What types of support and care services are available?
Attendant Care Services
Attendant care services refer to personalized support provided to individuals who need assistance. Clients who receive attendant services have health challenges that result from a permanent injury (such as stroke or spinal cord injury), a chronic condition (such as cerebral palsy) or a progressive illness (such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), or others). There is no cost for services for eligible individuals.
Tasks may include:
- Personal care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Mobility assistance: Helping with movement, transferring from bed to wheelchair, or repositioning.
- Medication management: Ensuring medications are taken on time and as prescribed.
- Homemaking: Light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, and shopping.
Assisted Living Services
Assisted Living Services are for those who require access to support on a 24 hour basis. Services may be provided in a supportive housing setting.
Common tasks may include:
- Personal care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Homemaking: Light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, and shopping.
- Care coordination: Assistance managing care and accessing other support services.
Personal Support Services
Personal support services are for those who require help with personal care activities. There is no cost for services for eligible individuals.
Common tasks may include:
- Personal care: Assistance with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting and training to perform these activities independently.
In-Home Respite
The service offers supervision and care to a client while providing the caregiver with a period of relief. Service costs may be subsidized. Contact your local provider for more information about costs for service.
